  • What is the Digital Drug Handbook?
The Digital Drug Handbook is a HIPAA-compliant platform you can easily access right through your browser. It’s packed with tools to make managing medications a breeze for dental professionals. It seamlessly fits into your existing practice workflows, and it's so fast and easy that your dental team can quickly prep information for you to review as you walk in to see the patient—saving you precious time and exponentially boosting patient safety in the process.
  • Where do you get your information from?
Our drug database is curated by our team of licensed pharmacists, dentists, and clinicians, and they draw from credible, public information sources such as the National Institute of Health's DailyMed and PubChem, the National Library of Medicine's MedlinePlus, and drug manufacturer guides.
  • What is a Med Report and how do I create it?
Med Reports are the foundation of the MedAssent DDS program. Instead of looking up medications one-by-one, you can create a Med Report for a patient that contains all of the medications they are taking in one place. Each Med Report contains useful information in a bullet-pointed format, such as use, local anesthetic precautions, important information, and more. Additionally, Med Reports come in 3 levels of information density - Snapshot containing the fastest and most critical information, Quick View having more layers of information, and Detailed View with the largest breadth of information. • What categories of medications are covered in Rx Check?
Select medications are available in Rx Check. We currently cover medications commonly prescribed by dentists, such as certain antibiotics, antifungals, pain medications, sedating medications, and more. If there are ever any medications you wish for us to add, please fill out this form.
  • What is the Dictionary and how do I use it?
The Dictionary makes quick searches on single medications fast and easy. Click here for a step-by-step tutorial.
  • Why are my Med Reports disappearing?
Med Reports are "cleared" each day to make it easier for you to find the right reports when you're busy practicing. However, Med Reports are saved on our backend, and can be accessed by searching a patient's name in the Med Reports or Patients List pages. Click here for step-by-step instructions on how to retrieve and edit an existing patient's Med Report.
  • Are you HIPAA-compliant?
Yes! We follow strict protocols to ensure we are HIPAA compliant. In addition, we enter into a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with each client who is a covered entity under HIPAA law.
  • How do you ensure your information is correct?
We derive our drug information straight from credible sources. Our team of licensed pharmacists, dentists, and clinicians have decades of experience writing drug information guides for diverse populations. Each medication goes through a minimum of 5 independent quality assurance checks. Our proprietary software enables us to update our database daily with the latest FDA guidance. We aim to review and reflect any changes within a month of publication.
  • What is the sign-up process?
Signing up is super simple! If you're a dental provider looking to sign up for your practice, just click the "Log In/Sign Up" button in the upper right corner and then hit "Sign Up Now." You’ll create an Admin profile to manage your subscription and billing (we recommend using a personal email). After verifying your email, you can choose between self-onboarding or our complimentary white-glove onboarding. For self-onboarding, you’ll set up your Office(s), assign Provider(s), sign our Business Associate Agreement, and enter payment details to start your 2-week free trial. Tip: Make sure to have your NPI number(s) on hand! If you prefer white-glove onboarding, we’ll gather the necessary info via email, set up your account, and hop on a quick call to finalize everything. If you're part of a DSO or dental/hygiene school, leave us a message, and we'll arrange a chat with one of our founders to discuss your specific needs.
  • Which National Provider Identifier (NPI) do I use to sign up?
Your NPI is necessary to verify your identity as a registered dental care provider, as stated in the Terms of Use. When signing up, there are two areas where you are asked to provide NPIs. First, when creating your Office account(s), you must enter in a valid organizational or personal NPI. An organization that provides healthcare services or is a group practice may have an NPI. Solo practitioners may only have their personal NPI available, and may use this instead of an organizational NPI. Second, each Provider added to your account must also have an NPI. Learn more about NPIs here.
  • How does billing work?
You are billed monthly for as many Offices you add to your account. Any number of Providers can be added to your account for free, and Providers can be assigned to any Office.
  • Why must I sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA)?
A Business Associate Agreement (BAA) is a written contract between a business associate and a covered entity or another business associate. The BAA outlines the terms and conditions to ensure Protected Health Information (PHI) is appropriately safeguarded. Under HIPAA, MedAssent DDS is considered a business associate. You must have a BAA in place before PHI can be uploaded to our software. We use a third party service to facilitate e-signature exchange. After signing, you will receive an emailed copy of the BAA for your records. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the BAA, please reach out to Support at dds@medassent.com.
  • What is the difference between self-onboarding and white-glove onboarding?
We offer two ways for you to set up your practice's account, after creating your Admin credentials. Self-onboarding requires you (the Admin) to manually input your Office(s) and Provider(s) information, such as name, credentials, address, and national provider identification (NPI), all through our online portal. During white-glove onboarding, you (the Admin) will choose a 15-minute onboarding meeting time. Prior to the meeting, a member of our team will reach out to you via email requesting the necessary information about your Office(s) and Provider(s). Then, we will do the heavy-lifting so that you don't need to enter all of this manually into the system. At your onboarding session, a team member will walk you through your Admin portal, review account information, and help you submit payment. We recommend practices with 3+ Offices to choose white-glove onboarding to ensure a timely and seamless account creation process.
  • Do you offer training sessions?
Yes, we offer complimentary training sessions to Office staff over Zoom! Feel free to sign up at this link.
  • What countries are you available in?
